Nintendo Wii Console In Stock – Minus Controllers
By Admin
Here’s an interesting story from the folks at www.wiiblog.net. It doesn’t seem to matter who gets there first, there’s always someone who claims they were there earlier! Sound familiar?
Nintendo and Sony have become involved in a legal dispute involving the technology of their controllers.
They are not battling each other, but rather a company called Copper Innovations Group (CIG) who claims it patented the “Hand Held Computer Input Apparatus and Method” technology all the way back in 1996.
Right! and they have been waiting all this time – 12 years in fact – for other companies to come out with something innovative and resembling their technology so that they could drag them to court! Wow, that’s forward thinking indeed.
CIG filed lawsuits against Nintendo and Sony over the Wii’s Remote and Nunchuck, and the PS3’s SixAxis controller. A Blu-Ray remote was also named.
Are these guys serious? Are they actually saying that they, and not Nintendo, thought up a name like “Nunchuck”? I mean, if I had, I’m not sure I’d be admitting it!
Maybe I’m wrong, but to me it sounds like someone just trying to capitalize on the success of other companies.
Yes, but it’s a pretty bold attempt at capitalizing if you ask me. It’s even a pretty stupid attempt, depending on how you view it.
I mean 1996? What has CIG developed in the last 12 years?
Didn’t I just say that a few paragraphs back? OK, maybe they did say it first…
The suits were filed in December.
I await the results of this case with bated breath. Well, almost… But if they win, it may prove to be the last time we’ll see a sign saying, “Nintendo Wii Console In Stock.” (We do see such signs, don’t we?)
